The departments records management software is called IMPACT.
The records management software offers several modules to make data entry easy and quick retrieval of all records. Modules that are included are, Blotter, Case, Master Name, Arrest/Booking, Traffic Accidents, Warrants, Property & Evidence, Tickets/Summons and Juveniles.

Photo imaging

The photoimaging add on module to the records management software. Allows the department to take high resolution digital images and add them to a police record or attach a picture of a person to their name. By using digital photography, the police department saves hundreds of dollars every year, since it  does not need to pay for film or film processing. Digital photography also allows for pictures taken at crime scenes to be immediately viewed by department members and e-mail to other police agencies if needed. Pictures that are attach to a name can be searched and used for police photo arrays or transmitted to police cars that have a mobile computer installed.

Pin Mapping

Pin Mapping

Traditional crime mapping in police stations used to consist of placing pins on maps to show locations of crimes. Today, computer software allows police agencies to quickly plot the locations of crimes in their communities. Impacts Pin Mapping software provides easy and fast access to plot trends in our community.

AMO

AMO "Advance Mobile On-line", brings the desktop computer to the officer in the field. The AMO software allows an officer to retrieve and send records in real time to police headquarters. With the officer being able to update routine calls from his mobile computer, the officer does not need to waste unnecessary time driving to police headquarters to complete their reports. Reports can be done in the patrol car and transmitted to headquarters without the officer returning to the station. Officers, also have access to NCIC "National Crime Information Center" and DMV "Department of Motor Vehicle". The officer in the field can obtain license and registration  information as well as Wanted and Missing persons information. Software also sends dispatch information to the officer without the information being broadcasted over voice radio system. Officers can also send text messages car to car or car to base, saving unnecessary voice radio time. This also allows sensitive information to be quickly transmitted to the officer in the field without them having to return or call headquarters. Mobile software also give the location and call type that other officers are on without having to contact the dispatcher.

VCAD

The police department also uses a state of the art dispatching software. Visual Computer Aided Dispatch or "VCAD. The VCAD software allows the dispatcher to perform several tasks from one software package. Using two computer screens the dispatcher and see the status of all units while entering in new calls. The VCAD software allows the dispatcher to send text messages to any computer equipped police car. VCAD also does an automatic check of a vehicles registration when added to a traffic stop. E-911 is also integrated into the VCAD software. A caller who either gives their information or just hangs up, has their address downloaded into the VCAD software. Dispatcher can then see immediately were a person is calling from. The software also gives the history of a person or the location history an officer is being dispatched too. The VCAD software saves valuable time for the dispatcher and allows him to concentrate more on calls and radio transmissions.

AVL

Police cars are also equipped with AVL "Advance Vehicle Location". GPS units are installed in the patrol cars and allow the dispatcher to see the location of police cars on a map in real time.. This makes for better and more efficient dispatching. Dispatchers can send the closest police car to a call without having to waste valuable time asking for the cars location over the voice radio system.

TraCs

l

The Glens Falls Police Department also participated in the New York State TRACS pilot program. TRACS "Traffic and Criminal Software" which is being deployed through out New York State. Allows the officer to Scan a drivers license and vehicle registration card into the TRACS software. This allows the officer to spend less time writing tickets and more time enforcing the traffic laws. This also allows ticket information  to be quickly transmitted to Department of Motor Vehicle and to the Courts. An interface was also developed by ACS to allow a ticket to be added to the records management software without the officer having to manually add the information to the citation module.

Live Scan Finger Printing

The latest addition to the police departments technology is Live Scan Finger Printing. The Glens Falls Police Department will become the first department in the Tri-County area to use this state of the art technology. Live Scan Finger Printing, takes away using messy inks and submitting poor quality finger prints. Finger prints are digitally scanned and checked for accuracy. Finger prints are then transmitted immediately to DCJS "Division of Criminal Justice Services". In what would normally take days or weeks. The department will receive a response form DCJS within two hours, giving the officer any criminal history of the person. More importantly, it will confirm the identity of the person who the prints were taken from. All too often a person will lie about who they are and only to find out days or weeks later, the persons real name and that they maybe wanted by another police agency. With this state of the art technology, criminals will no longer be able to hide this information from the police. Live scan finger printing hardware has been installed and the department is in the process of finalizing the installation and training it's officers. The Live Scan Finger Printing Software is also integrated into the records management software. This will also save the officer time, the officer will not have to enter a persons information twice in two separate software packages. Information will populate from one software package to the other.

Handheld License and Registration Scanner

The Handheld License and Registration Scanner, is a PDA with a built in infer red scanner. The scanner is capable of reading the barcode on a vehicles registration sticker or operators drivers license. PDA's are updated daily and the data base contains all of the current suspended/revoked licenses and registrations. Data base also contains all of the current reported stolen vehicles. Further the scanner will let an officer know if the license belongs to a person under the age of 21. This is very useful when a license has been altered, but the alteration is invisible to the naked eye.

X26 TASER

News Clip on Glens Falls Police TASER training

The TASER X26 is a conducted energy weapon on that utilizes compress nitrogen to deploy two small probes. These probes are connected to the weapon by high-voltage insulated wire. When the probes make contact with the target, the TASER X26 transmits powerful electrical pulses along the wires and into the body of the target. The TASER X26 is the fourth generation of TASER brand conducted energy weapons. Conducted energy weapons use electrical energy to effect the signaling mechanisms used by the human body to communicate. This electrical output simply "jams" the communication system of the body. The TASER X26 sends a series of energy pulses quite similar to those used by the brain to communicate with the body. Much like radio jamming, the T-Waves overpower the normal electrical signals within the body's nerve fibers. The human target instantly loses muscular control of this body and cannot perform coordinated action, usually falling to the ground.
