GFPD Motorcycle officer PO Boisclair The Glens Falls Police Department in 2007 restarted the Motorcycle Unit. Glens Falls Police Captain Kevin Conine approached the Warren County Stop DWI program requesting funding to begin the Motorcycle unit. Funding was approved and the Glens Falls Police Department was granted funding to lease two Harley Davidson Roadking motorcycles on a two year trial basis. The primary function on the Motorcycle Unit is Traffic and DWI enforcement. Program was started with three officers, PO Huntington, Boisclair and Lydon. Officers are sent to a week long motorcycle training in New Hampshire. Training involves mostly hands on use with the motorcycles.

Motorcycle unit 1924 Motorcycle units were not always uncommon to the Glens Falls Police Department. Back in the 1920's Motorcycles where utilized by the Glens Falls Police Department. In fact the only Glens Falls Police Officer killed in the line of duty was a Motorcycle Officer. John Malan died from injuries as a result of a Motorcycle accident while on duty.

Pictured to the left is a Glens Falls Motorcycle officer back in 1924. As you can see, motorcycle design and the officer's uniforms have come a long way since the 1920's
